two posts in one day! You know I'm trying to catch up here! This one's super recent!
A while back I posted pictures of my 18th Century Foundation garments, and talked about trying to create some unusual Lolita outfits for my wardrobe based of a more historical silhouette. Well after snatching moments to work on it here and there I finally finished it this weekend!
I went with a nice chocolate brown velvet. The underskirt is a cream cotton pique and the trim is pinked. I'm not holding out too much hope for it lasting very long that way, but in the mean time its so light and lovely, and seems to be standing up much better than I ever thought it would!
I was worried it would be super uncomfortable, but it's not so bad! Its worn over my 18th century stays and bum roll, which takes a little getting used to, and even though it's worn with the heavily boned stays, the bodice is also boned with spring steel to keep it taught and straight . (you'd never be able to get on a plane in this stuff)
The skirt can be worn looped up a la polonaise as here, or left to hang lose in the back.
Now just need to find a place to wear this stuff!
