Every once in a while someone unveils something on your kitchen table so awesome it takes about a week before you have the mental capacity to blog about it. A little back just such a thing happened!

My friend
mmymoon came over with a birthday present of epic proportions, a tiny doll house version of myself, sewing room, kitties, everything! It even has little kanzashi in it, and the little "Vivien Blythe" is holding one of many model teacups scattered around the house! It's just like my life only tiny!
( Come on in, there are dolls.... )
In other exciting news, the first time in ages we don't go to our friends frozen custard shop on a Saturday afternoon, Obama shows up there!
That's enough pint sized fun for now, I'm going to get back to my life sized work.

First up sorry for the 2 doll related posts in a row, but....
I don't know if any one remembers, I started a project a while to make my dolls a fancy looking chair to sit on. We'll now it's a sofa and pretty much finished!

It took a while to find the time to work on it again, but aside from needing a little tidying up my dolls now have a chair!
It was so much fun working on something like this, I've never really tried anything like it before, but it doesn't look bad to say it's pretty much nothing but cardboard and sculpey! I need to take some photos for the Dolly Daydream galleries now.
Hope you guys like it too!
(Edit: full set of photos with Coppelia and the sofa on the Dolly Daydream site)

I take a lot of photos of my dolls, but don't post them that much here because I worry people would get bored with them.

However I took some the other day of Jinxi I thought were pretty cute, sporting her miniature Cute Salad wardrobe! I hope a few people here get a kick out of them like I did.
Thanks for indulging me!

I started this head ages ago, and it had been sat waiting to be cast for a while I guess, but now it's all done! The last few weeks I've been casting parts when ever I had a spare second, and now my new girl is finished!!!!!
Say hello to Jinxi!!

I haven't finished the outfit yet or anything like that, but I couldn't wait to show her off!
Since Coppelia is my mini Candy Violet model, Jinxi is my mini Cute Salad model, I can't wait to get started on the mini Kimono Hoodie!

So I have my doll, I have a 2nd doll on the way, and i feel so bad seeing my girl perched on the edge of a table!
I spend some time looking at doll chairs online, but couldn't find anything that both fitted the genteel Coppelia, and the sassy miss Jinxi.
SoOooo I decided to make my own set of furniture for them!

I started sculpting a fancy chair leg out of good old Super Sculpey. Once that and all the other ornaments are finished I'll make molds and cast as many part as needed. Gold leaf the casts and attach them to the main body of the chair!
I'm thinking something sweet and delicate for Coppelia, and a bigger Mad Hatter style chair for Jinxi?
It's called the Rococo chair project, but it's a mix of 18th and 19th century design.
I've never tried anything like this before so wish me luck!

So I've been thinking, I have a little doll to play dress up with Candy Violet, but not one to play dress up for Cute Salad, and as I';m working on some Cute Salad designs, I really wanted to make mini ones too!! The result was me picking up some leftover clay and other things and starting a whole new doll!

Her name is Jinxi and I see her wearing bright colors, and being pretty fun!
I've still got a lot of work to do on her, but I like her playful little smile!
I hear a microwave in the background, time for lunch!

Happy New Year every one! I can't believe it's already 2007, was 2006 shorter than normal years? I'm taking inventory and getting my receipts from last year all scanned in ready to re-open the shops next week.
I also managed to throw together the one must have accessory any crazy doll lady should have...

...a dolly website!
I called it Dolly Daydream, and it has my first photo gallery, as well as a create a doll diary that doubles as a doll making tutorial of sorts. Any one who wanted to give making a doll a go might find that useful!

I hope every one had a good Christmas! Mine was fun, I have all kinds of fashion history books and patterns to play with, even a book on ribbon work! I see a blog full of new projects in the New year!
Speaking of projects, I finally finished a big one I had been working on over Christmas eve. I don't know if any of you remember but I had been making my own Ball Jointed Doll (Coppelia) since September, and now she's finally finished and ready to meet you all!

I was very happy with how she turned out! now all I can think of is matching outfits!
I just wish I could show her off to my family in person, I miss them a lot this time of year (and the rest of the year!) Plus I've been boring them to death with her progress for months, and I know my Nana wanted to see her. She had a doll very similar she told me when she was a little girl. I hope she likes the photos till I can take her with me back to England.

Sooo I can only do a couple of doll molds at a time because I only have so much Lego, the result... Lots of waiting. However I had a few spare moments today so I began the process of miniaturizing Candy Violet to doll size.
Behold the mini mini crown!

It's just over an inch tall, but full of cute. She'll be the best dressed doll in town once she emerges!

Today I finally took the plunge. After obsessing over surface texture for a month I decided it's as perfect as my human hands can make it. Which meant that I needed to commit to molding before I could change my mind and start messing things up.

She's now being slowly committed to the pink goo. I have to say, one pot of silicone goes depressing not that far. I think my 3 pot estimate might have been a tad optimistic.
