There is one thing above all others that makes balancing a creative role and business role difficult, and that is that you have to divide time between the aspects, and some days you have a period that needs to be spent on the creative side, yet your mind and mood is trapped in a kind of creative lock down.

Sadly you can't push it because that never works, and for any one who really wants to see the pain I give you Good Day Bad Day...
And this is why sad hands should never ever put pen to paper.

A good friend of ours owns an amazing frozen Custard shop out here called the Dairy Godmother, and we used to be over there a lot round closing time. So, whilst Liz and every body was closing up, I was set loose with a box of chalk to illustrate the next days special flavor!
She turned up some old photos recently so I give you a small collection of happy chalk board drawings!

I did so many, that one day someone else did the drawing and it was just a regular lemon without a face. This really lovely lady came in and asked if i was doing ok, she was worried because the lemon wasn't smiling!
We need to go over again more near closing time again, it was a lot of fun hanging out and drawing happy food!
So there you go, if you live in the DC area and haven't been you need to because it rocks, and if you're in the
nova_lolitas you need to check the com because it's Rose Petal Sorbet season and we need a meetup!!!!

A mixture of lots of work and a seasonal cold has knocked me on my butt a little lately. Still it's nothing a few good cups of tea can't fix!
I've been working hard on a lot of new designs for both labels and always forget just how long it takes to get everything finished off the way I like it before it can be handed off to the next person to work on it, ( and how how much longer it takes to get it arranged the way they like it to work on!).

This is a little teaser of some of what's coming. I few people who have been following us over the years might recognize a few familiar faces!
Still working on a few other little bits and pieces. So I guess as always keep watching here for updates. I'm going to get a cup of tea and do some more work now.

I've been working on a few things lately, updates, new designs you name it!

One thing I'd been drawing was a little anatomy of Lolita style, and thought I'd post it up here, to see what people thought so far?
I need to tidy up a few things like the border, but since I haven't posted in a while, I figured why not make her the post of the day!

Been scrambling to get artwork ready for a full page ad going up in November...

I was going with a cute Shojo manga kinda feel, this is a little detail from the finished piece.
The clothes on here will be up on the sites soon, even the skirt!
I made my first baby steps over the weekend to getting a line of clothing manufactured. Just need to finalize some designs and see how things go. Fingers crossed kids!

I had such a great weekend!
Saturday we went out with our friend Nora to this place called the "Variety Store" it was a truly cultural experience, to describe it does it no justice at all. But it's basically this little shop in a kinda out the way strip mall that sells a bit of everything.
Like there is a fabric section with tones of amazing kitsch prints, more lace and trims than I've ever seen before! And of course, MINI HATS! Next to that was a cabinet full of small ceramic kittens, an aisle full of toys for like 50 cents, old candy that you can hardly find any more. Then electrical cords and stuff to do a spot of canning at home!
We got 3 bracelets, 2 Hawaiian lai, candy, a jigsaw puzzle with a fluffy white cat looking in a mirror on it, MINI HAT! And some plastic ninjas.
I can't wait to take every one I know there! After that we went back to Noras house and I got my Butt kicked at Trivial pursuits.
Today I finished off the artwork for the ad in the Fall issue of Bust.

I was going for a kinda manga meets pin up girl tattoo kinda thing. I had a lot of fun drawing this one up, it was a new style for me, so it took a while to get it to a point I was happy with.
With a bit of luck it'll be eye catching enough to do it's job.
