Tutorial Fairy!

  • Aug. 12th, 2008 at 10:54 AM
Septembers issue of Shojo Beat has another of my tutorials for any one interested! It's on making your own personalized pencil cases!

I used the lovely Sebastian as the model for mine, and can't wait for my evening class to start again so I can take this little guy out with me!

We also got a mention in the Get Japanese Fashion article which was rather cool!

On a nerdy note I was excited to see a new series Honey Hunt in there from the creator of Hot Gimmick. I loved Hot Gimmick so I was kinda excited to see this one pop up!

DIY Parasol!

  • Jun. 2nd, 2008 at 7:07 PM
New article in the July issue of Shojo Beat. I was asked to do something about parasols, so I got to work and wrote up a tutorial on how to make your very own DIY Parasol!

I used a cheap costume parasol for the handle, but there are some cute antique ones on ebay quite often, It's not a terribly difficult project, and with a bit of imagination there are so many possibilities!

I hope a few of you guys will pick up a copy and give it a go! (I'm already planing parasol number 2)

Parasol Models Needed

  • Apr. 2nd, 2008 at 3:19 PM

I'm  looking for models for a magazine article.  Ideally I'm looking for a Lolita dressed to the nines with a brand parasol, a goth, and a decora/oshare kid. If people have their own parasols great, if not I have a goth one and a decora one coming. Any other styles also welcome, retro or city chic would be great too, just let me know! Hoping to shoot photos this Sunday around Burke Lake (Northern  Virginia so really looking for locals).

Any one here able to help out?

Kanzashi Tutorial

  • Mar. 6th, 2008 at 5:47 PM
Here's a little heads up for all the kanzashi fans out there! I wrote a tutorial for Shojo Beat a few months back and it;'s out in the April Issue at last! I just got my subscriber copy, so I'm not sure when it'll be out on the shelves.

They managed to get as much info as possible onto 1 page, and there is the answer to the question I hear so often "How do you make cherry blossoms?" (Bellflowers work the same way just in the other direction).

So there you have it, for any one who wanted to give kanzashi making a try, pick up the April Shojo Beat.

Gothic Lolita Bible

  • Feb. 28th, 2008 at 10:02 AM
Been busy busy busy as of late! A lot of it has been my favorite part of the job and that's designing, also working on a few articles so that's exciting too.

I got my copy of the English Language Gothic and Lolita Bible the other week, and I have to say I thought it came out rather nice! The design and layout was pretty and just like the Japanese version, and I'm looking forward to reading through it all soon.

There was 4 page spread on Candy Violet for any one who might be interested, and lots of pretty loli photos! So that's cute!

It seems some days that their aren't enough hours in a day. Outside of work I've been working on revving up a few craft projects, and working on a Lolita Robe à la Française, that's probably the biggest dress project I've ever taken on, let's hope it turns out nice!

I'm going to go back to work, and I'll update soon promise!

Tea for You!

  • Oct. 3rd, 2007 at 9:44 AM
For any one who doesn't subscribe to Shojo Beat, there is another article in the November issue you might enjoy checking out! It should be on store shelves in the next week or two.

It's a little DIY project for designing your very own usable teacup! This is the one I designed whilst writing the article, so I hope a few people here might pick up a copy and show of their cups too!

This little fella has been hiding in my collection for so long, it's nice to finally show it off!
(Cups form England and my new teacup display cabinet coming soon....)

For any one interested it's in the August issue due out on the shelves in the next couple of weeks I hope you'll pick up a copy and check it out!
